Statutory Information - Ethos and Values

Our Headteacher Mrs Courtier has been working hard with pupils, parents and staff at Longvernal to develop a shared vision of our aims. Our values are displayed at the front of our building.

We believe that our school is unique and we consider ourselves to be part of the “Longvernal Family.” As such, we believe we should look after each other, show respect and recognise that we are all unique and need to work together sharing the same values.

Our values are as follows: Taking Pride, Being Adventurous, Working as Team Players, Outdoor Learners, Being Proud, Being Creative, Being Confident, Being Friends, Being Resilient, Striving for Excellence and, most importantly, Having Fun.

We are extremely proud of our grounds and use them daily as part of our Forest School. Our slogan is displayed near our values:

“Children at Longvernal learn with mud on their hands and smiles on their faces.”

We firmly believe in partnership and greatly value the contributions all stakeholders have in our thriving school. Children, staff and parents work actively in partnership to enable all children to realise their full potential.

Through Forest School and the wider curriculum we aim to develop and inspire pupils to:

  • Have high aspiration for self achievement
  • Have a love of learning
  • Become independent learners who are resilient and equipped with the skills to tackle problem- solving and overcoming barriers
  • Experience a rich and relevant curriculum for all
  • Value themselves and others
  • To foster a sense of belonging to a community
